Spectrum Health Systems Receives 7th Consecutive CARF Accreditation

Published On: November 24th, 2021

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc., a not-for-profit organization providing a comprehensive continuum of addiction treatment throughout Massachusetts and beyond, has been awarded a three-year accreditation from CARF International for treating inmates with substance use disorders within prison and probation settings throughout the state of Georgia.

CARF International provides accreditation services for health and human service providers throughout the world, ensuring that organizations provide the highest quality of care and perform continual quality improvement. Spectrum has maintained CARF accreditation of its correctional treatment programs in Georgia for over 20 years.

“We are so happy to receive this accreditation from CARF for another three years,” said Sabrina Hudnall, Spectrum Health Systems’ GA State Director. “Our staff is committed to working as a team and providing quality service to all clients, and this accreditation proves that we are succeeding in giving top-notch treatment and care to all. It was heartening to hear that our clients feel and appreciate the dedication of our team.”

During the accreditation process, surveyors assess providers against diligent organizational and program standards. Over the course of a week, CARF surveyors conduct private interviews with current and former clients, family members, leadership, program staff and other stakeholders such as referral sources, insurers, and community members. Additionally, the surveyors observe service practices, visit provider locations, and perform detailed document reviews.

After a detailed, onsite review, the CARF survey team issued its findings and highlighted many areas of strength within Spectrum Health Systems, including a staff of dedicated individuals who are enthusiastic about the mission of the organization, as demonstrated by their actions with one another, clients served, and external stakeholders. It was also noted that a considerable number of key staff members have been with the organization for an extended period, leading to consistency and stability. Employees are enthusiastic, person-centered, qualified, and highly trained. Their dedication and eagerness to grow is what helps makes the program a success.

Clients also reported a high level of satisfaction with Spectrum’s programming. People served are appreciative of the staff for their teaching, discipline, honesty, and responsibility, and feel the treatment they receive is “life-changing and lifesaving,” the survey team stated.

For more than 50 years, Spectrum Health Systems has remained committed to providing the highest quality of care for clients throughout the entire organization. Spectrum’s Correctional Treatment Division was established in 1993 to provide specialized, individualized, trauma-informed treatment to offenders with histories of chronic substance use.
